I started teaching at a young age. That career canopied migration to several places but when I moved to Colorado, I decided that I would finally attain my goal of working with animals. Unexpectedly, I continued teaching for a few more years and then oddly landed in the restaurant business. But I never let the dream of animal work elude me and did a great deal of pet care during that time. I am thrilled that I am finally at the point where this love can be my work.
To engage with animals for a living has been a long time goal of mine. Growing up, my family always had pets and my step-father was a long-time dog trainer so animals were integrated in my life. I have an innate draw toward animals and there are few things that give me as much joy as I get from interacting with them. Some of the most important relationships of my life have been with animals. Their natural inclination to love and be loved restores my spirit.
The animals I love most are my current babies who share my 1934 cabin in the woods with me: Floyd, my Aussie mix, and Jolene, a sharpei/lab mix. The cats and dogs of my friends, animals that I have cared for and love, are also considered part of my family.
We frequently take extended trips out of the country and our biggest concern has always been the stress it may put on our dog Tucker.
For the past 2 years we’ve left Tuck in Kristen’s care during these trips and have complete confidence he gets the love and care he’s accustomed to. When we return the transition is always a positive one – smooth and drama-free.
We feel lucky to have such a reliable, deeply caring and thorough professional up in Nederland.
Kristen has been house sitting for us for the past few years and she is the best! Our pets are all very shy and awkward and have a hard time with new people. Our dog, Luna, is super shy but she and Kristen made fast friends. Even our cats will come out and visit when she is at our place. She is a great communicator and very dependable. She sends cute pics of your pets to you while you are away. It’s very nice to know that your pets are in good hands while you are away. I highly recommend her services!

Kristen and Rox from Elevation Pet Care took great care of me while my mom and dad were away on vacation. They gave me and my sister, Beezy lots of pets and kept us fed and made sure our litter boxes were clean. They are the best!
